    1. Hi Haley, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to trivialize our talk. I was in an anxious mood and when I'm like that I can second guess everything that happens. I hope you see this reply.

  2. Mornings at Blackwater

    by Mary Oliver

For years, every morning, I drank
    from Blackwater Pond.
It was flavored with oak leaves and also, no doubt,
    the feet of ducks.

    And always it assuaged me
from the dry bowl of the very far past.

What I want to say is
that the past is the past,
and the present is what your life is,
    and you are capable
of choosing what that will be,
    darling citizen.

    So come to the pond,
or the river of your imagination,
or the harbor of your longing,
and put your lips to the world.
    And live
    your life.

Thought I'd share a favorite of mine from Mary Oliver.

Sam, you're putting your lips to the world and drinking it all in, you're living your life! Your energy may be flagging a bit but you've done the same thing (walking) for 11 months, every day, so perhaps that's normal. You feel alone because this journey is a solitary thing you chose for yourself. Friends have joined you for a time but in the end, it's your walk, to be done alone. You crave to be with people but as soon you say hello, you're already moving away. Not by choice but because that's what this walking trip of your requires of you, to be reasonably unfettered and not be entangled with others for this period of your life, then you can give all your attention to the people you meet and hear stories from. I believe you will find your relationships, old and those yet to come, will be more so much important to you because of this experience.
